“Weimilere is a collective of artists, dancers, musicians, and educators that share a passion for Afro-Caribbean folkloric music and whose goal is to nourish a developing community around such forms of expression.
Obba Wemilere, or meaning “king of the festival in praise of the Orishas” in Lukumi, is derived from the Yoruba peoples taken to the island of Cuba during slave trade.
