Sound Culture & Gozamos’ anniversary kicks off with bang!
Uproot Andy is a leading dj and producer of Tropical Bass which mixes traditional tropical Latin and African sounds with a bassier electronic dance groove. He’s one half of NY’s famed Que Bajo?! dj collective which draws between 500-800 people to their monthly events in Manhattan.
Vicios de Papá are our beloved hometown Latin Ska band that creates original material mixing reggae, cumbia, and ska with politically charged lyrics in English and Spanish.
Soulphonetics dj/producers have, for the past two years, held a monthly party that highlights the edgier electronic sound of global music. Through House, Hip-Hop, Jazz and all forms of Afro-Latin & Electronic rythms and other glitchy global grooves, they’ve slowly pushed the envelop musically in Chicago.
(((Sonorama))) are a multi-art duo based in Pilsen that look to the past and future simultaneously via their dj sets and video mixing. They dj vintage tropical records, as well as explore the latin electronic movement via their annual Latin Electronic Music Festival.
Folia Tropicalia will get bring a little bit of Brazilian Carnaval into the mix with their choreographed moves in traditional carnaval costumes.
And finally DJ Sound Culture remixes the world into a frenzy of Afro Latin Global Bass that’s equally ethno-musical as it is infectiously dance floor oriented.
