His passion for both has to a large extent laid the path in front of him for most of his life. In the dj booth DJ Sound Culture is somewhat of an ethno-musicologist or rhythmic cultural chemist of sorts, exploring the world’s sounds and finding the threads that tie us all together globally. On Wednesday, January 4, Commonwealth will feature producer and DJ collective Soulphonetics together with White Label co-founder Sadie Woods from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Head to Crimson Lounge for what Time Out Chicago calls “a mid week haven of sultry underground sounds” as Commonwealth kicks off 2012 with Chicago’s own Soulphonetics.
